What is the difference?
A single-head machine has one embroidery head and stitches one piece at a time. A multi-head machine has several identical heads — from 2 up to 31 on Sinsim fabric machines — that stitch the same design on multiple pieces or along a run of fabric simultaneously.
Output
Output scales almost directly with heads. A design that takes 10 minutes on one head produces six pieces in the same 10 minutes on a 6-head machine. For repeat orders, multi-head machines win decisively.
Flexibility
Single-head machines excel at variety: different designs, small quantities, personalisation and samples. Compact multi-function models also handle caps, finished garments, shoes and bags that many multi-head flat machines are not designed for.
Space and operators
A single-head machine fits a shop or small room. Multi-head machines need a dedicated floor — but one operator runs all the heads, so labour cost per piece falls sharply.
Cost drivers
Price rises with the number of heads, needles per head, embroidery area, speed and special devices. A multi-head machine is a larger investment, but lower cost per piece at volume.
Which should you choose?
Choose single-head if you are starting out, do custom or mixed orders, or embroider finished products like caps. Choose multi-head if you have consistent bulk orders — running fabric, uniforms, export panels. Many businesses start single-head and add a multi-head machine as volume grows.
